User Guide

Learn how to use IP Quality and understand your IP analysis results.

Getting Started

Using IP Quality is simple. Enter any IPv4 or IPv6 address in the search box on the Check page and click Analyze. You can also click "Check my IP" to analyze your own address automatically.

Understanding the Fraud Score

The fraud score (0–100) is the core risk indicator:

  • 0–24 (Clean): Low risk. Typical residential or corporate IP.
  • 25–49 (Low): Minor signals. Generally safe with light monitoring.
  • 50–74 (Medium): Moderate risk. May be a shared or anonymized IP.
  • 75–89 (High): High risk. Likely proxy, VPN, or suspicious activity.
  • 90–100 (Critical): Very high risk. Known malicious or heavily anonymized.

Security Fields

  • Proxy: Whether the IP is a known proxy server.
  • VPN: Whether the IP belongs to a VPN service.
  • Tor: Whether this is a Tor exit node.
  • Active VPN/Tor: Currently active anonymization detected.
  • Bot / Crawler: Automated traffic indicators.
  • Recent Abuse: Reports of malicious activity in the recent period.
  • Abuse Velocity: Frequency of abuse reports (none/low/medium/high).

Geolocation

Location data is accurate to country level in 99%+ of cases and city level in 95%+ of cases. Note that VPN and proxy IPs will show the location of the exit node, not the actual user's location.

Network Information

  • ISP: Internet Service Provider name.
  • ASN: Autonomous System Number identifying the network.
  • Connection Type: Residential, datacenter, mobile, etc.
  • Hostname: Reverse DNS lookup result.

Streaming & AI Checks

The streaming check tests whether the IP can access major platforms. The AI services check verifies access to ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI tools. These checks are done server-side and reflect real accessibility from the server, not your browser.

Limitations

  • No tool is 100% accurate. Use results as strong signals, not absolute truth.
  • Residential VPNs may not always be detected as VPNs.
  • Geolocation of satellite and mobile IPs may be less accurate.
  • Corporate NAT IPs may show company HQ location rather than actual user location.
